Mugs on the table

Pull up a chair. Here’s why we rescue.

We don’t forget the value in things — or people. Useful items deserve another chance when they can become practical support for someone facing crisis.

What we do

A remembered item can begin a new story.

Rescue Through Recycling accepts useful, functional and suitable donations by consideration. We sort and check them, then reuse, sell, redistribute or responsibly redirect them where appropriate.

The value created helps fund care packages and practical support for people and families facing crisis.

Elephant memory

Some useful things are too wonderful to forget.

Our elephant host reminds us to notice what still has value: a bottle warmer, a sturdy chair, art materials, an ornament, a safe household item — something ordinary that may become very useful in another context.

The elephant in the room

Useful things are wasted every day while people nearby still need practical support.

Saying “don’t worry about what happens after it’s thrown away” is a bit like saying “don’t think of pink elephants” — it only made us think about it more.

So we choose to look gently and practically at the thing in front of us: can it be cleaned, checked, reused, sold, redistributed or responsibly rehomed?
